A Lack of Reviews

Comes from a lack of money to buy new comics.

But I have some money and will go to the comic shop tomorrow.

My local comic shop, however, did not and will not order the "Liberality for All" comic, so I'm going to have to order that one online somewhere. Then I can see if it's any good and then review it.

Two interesting items of note:

1. Dan Jurgens has signed an exclusive contract with DC comics. I wonder if Marvel's shoddy marketing and treatment of Combat Zone had anything to do with it?

2. Joe Quesada makes a rather odd comment here about Chuck Dixon. Since Chuck is one of the few openly conservative comic writers, and he hasn't had a lot of work at Marvel lately, I wonder if Joe really was "just kidding" or if there's something a bit deeper.....

who knows?

  • Glad somebody pointed out it's been politics first and story 2nd at marvel for a while now

  • I actually don't think that - except for one writer, I think it's still story first and politics second at Marvel.

The problem is that the creators don't seem to realize that it's politics at all, or that they're coming across as preachy and intolerant (despite being so-called "tolerant" liberals).

  • It's amazing how many liberals are intolerant.

And no, I meant what I said. It is politics first for Marvel, not neccisarrily for the writers, though some it is obviously that way. But editiorial has made decisions and demands which are obviously infringing on creativity in the attempt to make their politics seem like reality in the comics they publish.

You can order it through Mackey's site: http://www.accstudios.com. I had the same problem with my local comic shop - said they would order it, gave them my phone number, never heard from them, and when I followed up they acted sheepish and told me they would NOT order it. Case closed.

I haven't read LFA but if Mackey is as good a writer as he is a PR man, we're in for a wild ride.
